This is a rating of how the product stacks up against our other products when used for horses. The more horses an item gets, the better it should work for you.
Note that some products might be listed, but not recommended for horses. Those products are listed along with specific reasons that the product wouldn't work well in this application. We feel very strongly about using the right product with the right animal, and hope presenting this information will be useful to you.

Keepsafe® Horse Fence is one of the most respected equine fences in the market place. The fence has a closely spaced 2”x4” diamond-mesh construction which gives it linear strength and springy texture, protecting horses from injury and preventing predators from entering paddocks and pastures.
The fence design provides a durable construction but also provides some flex, allowing horses to brush and bump against the fence without damage to their delicate coats. The close spacing prevents hooves and legs from catching on the fence.
These attributes make Keepsafe® the preferred horse fence by many of the country’s top stables.

This is a terrific fence for horses. Its strong 2”x4” mesh design and varying heights prevent horses from stepping through, walking down or getting over the fence.
Non-Climb Fence is a woven fence, which allows it to flex on impact preventing injury to horse or fence. When properly installed with the smooth side inward, Square Deal® Knots won’t cut or damage horses. Further, since this fence is woven and not welded, it helps resist being broken or eaten.

Due to its strength and smooth textures, this product is perfect for topping off horse fence applications but is typically not used as a “stand alone” horse fencing system.

This product can be used to corral horses but should not be considered a long-term solution. Field fence’s open structure provides the opportunity for horses to step through the fence, causing serious injury. A good horse fence has no place where the horse can get his head or foot caught. Further, field fence, which does not have as forgiving a construction as Keystone's’Non-Climb® or Keepsafe®, could result in injury to the horse if contact is made.

This product should be considered a very short-term fencing solution for horses. Panels are welded products that provide no give should the horse make contact with the fence which can result in serious injury. Further, bumping, leaning and kicking can break the welds of a panel product exposing additional sharp edges that can cause serious cuts or abrasions to the horse.

Barbed wire should never be used to fence horses. The sharp barbs can and will cause serious damage to your horse even if contact with the fence is minimal.
