Acreage Guide and Table

The diagram below can be used to calculate the number of rods required to enclose fields of various sizes. These are suggested guidelines using the square area to be fenced.

 

Acreage Guide
1 rod = 16 1/2 ft.
10 rods = 165 ft.
20 rods = 330 ft.
 
1/4 mile = 1,320 ft. or 80 rods
1/2 mile = 2,640 ft. or 160 rods
1 mile = 5,280 ft. or 320 rods

The table below helps calculate the number of rolls of fence required to enclose various acreage sizes. These are suggested guidelines assuming the square area to be fenced.
